Stop Looking & Start Seeing

"When we stop looking for life, it starts looking for us."
Observing an artist at work one day, I noticed that he periodically stepped back and gazed at his canvas. I wondered what he was looking at, until I realized he wasn't looking at anything in particular. He was simply opening his focus, softening his gaze, and allowing his vision to scan the work as a whole. Not looking for any one thing his eyes were automatically drawn to whatever needed his attention in the painting.
After years of integrating this way of seeing into my own life, I've discovered that in looking for nothing, we begin to see everything. In fact, anything that requires our attention actually finds us when we stop looking for it. Living this way, we never have to "figure things out,", or wonder "what to do next," because life keeps greeting us with the next step of our journey.
